Sea Wasp

The Sea Wasp or Chironex fleckeri is the most potent in terms of poison. if you touch a Sea Wasp you will most likely die your heart will stop within minutes. This species of Box Jelly fish is one of only three that we know can kill humans. Other Box Jellies can cause Irukandji Syndrome this will make your back hurt make you cramp and have nausea and headaches. These symptoms will set in in about 30 minutes from the sting. Twelve to sixteen species of Box jellies can give this. A fully grown Sea Wasp can kill you so fast you might not have time to get to shore. These Jelly fish are very dangerous you should not swim where Jelly Fish have been sighted because even if it is not a Sea Wasp it can be very pain full if you get stung. If you happen to find yourself in the water with jellies swim away while keeping away from its tentacles.

New Update

We tested our solar cooker and well it stunk. It fell over and didn't colect heat. So the group and I are making a new cooker not a panel but a box cooker. Our goal is to get to 250ºF. Right now we have only an idea of what we're going to make. We have a tight dead line in two or three weeks we have a cook out where we cook for the middle school. To be honest Im really nervous about hitting the dead line because we have not been able to test. Jacob and I have been sick the past few weeks and the other guys are dumping all the work on us so its going a bit slow right now. I think we can have a cooker at the cook out but I dont tink we will be able to cook anything. We just are in a stump right now but this weekend jacob and I might be able to make and test the new cooker!

The first Nuclear Weapons

THIS IS NOT AN INSTRUCTION ON HOW TO MAKE A BOMB

Nukes are made when Uranium 238 becomes plutonium 239 which is a man made element in the first nuke this is what was used. It was a 4 kilo. sphere of plutonium 239 with a beryllium reflector.

In World War Two when America tested the atom bomb " Trinity" we used 6.1 kilograms of Plutonium 239 with 2268 kilograms of explosives strapped around the core. There needs to be a whole lot of explosives to cause the reaction. The reaction works by splitting the atoms and the splitting causes heat and the reaction can be dangerous if not kept in a safe environment. How it went off or detonated was implosion not explosion so the bomb crashed it self and that set off the reaction. I have no idea how it was an implosion with that much explosives. The first atomic weapon used was "Little Boy" it had most of the same specs but it had a gun like piston which shot the plutonium and started the reaction that devastated Hiroshima it also went off 580 meters  above the ground. The second one used was "Fat Man" was the same as "Trinity" but went off at 500 meters above the ground and destroyed Nagasaki. The first Hydrogen bomb "Ivy Mike" was tested on November 1st 1952.

How CD's and CD-R discs work

CD-R disks or CD's are an every day appliance, there used on the radio station there also used with video games, But how do they work? CD's are a thin polycarbonate disk with a thin layer of aluminum (Al) on top. CD's use strips that go around the inner circle of the disk that acts like an old vinyl record but it has data in it. So lets zoom in on the strip the strip has flat reflective areas and non-reflective bumps and the single spiral of data. The CD drive shines a laser at the disk that can detect the reflective and non-reflective surfaces. The drive then converts the reflections into 1's and 0's, binary code to read the digital data on the disk. CD-R disks can be "Burned" or "Modified" because they have an extra layer of Aluminum, Gold or green dye. The drive changes the reflections of the layer by burning into it. This layer is extremely sensitive to light so avoid exposing CD-R disks to sunlight.

Liquid Nitrogen Bomb

If you have worked with liquid nitrogen you know that it is cold and that if it touches you it will roll off your hand like water or turn into gas. But there are ways you can make it really dangerous. liquid nitrogen is more dence than nitrogen as a gas which is not surprising. Nitrogine as it self without oxygen is really bad for you it can sufficate you and you wont even know it is doing it. A little fact is that nitrogen suffication has been cleared as a humanian way to execute people. If you make a liquid nitrogen bomb as it is called always do it outside and for a purpose not to harm anyone. If you put liquid nitrogen in a contaner and seel the top and if the container is the right density it will explode possibly harming people but if the container is not dense enough it will blow a hole right through and will steadily leak air. Liquid nitrogen takes up 600 times less space than the gass version of nitrogen so thats why it expands when the pressue is let off and explodes the container its in. Someone who works in lab did a test nitrogen bomb and their water bottle went thirty feet in the air one of the observers was ex-military and said the blast was about the same as a 3/4 stick of dynamite. Most people that make these do it in a pool or in a spot away from people to keep people safe I HIGHLY advise doing it away from people.

what Alcoholism dose to the body

Alcolism is a growing diseas in America and is a physical diseas which i thought didnt make much sense. The American Health Organisation says it is a diseas that efects the whole Family which againg didnt make sense. But i found out at an Alanon meeting that it infects the Alcholics liver and makes them crave it and that when the Alchoholic is drunk is how it effects the family. An Alchoholics liver is missing parts that it needs and terefore it craves Alcohol.

Plasma energy

Plasma is a liquid that when given electricity can shine bright, the lights in schools and office buildings are plasma lights.
Plasma can also be used for entertainment perpouses with plasma balls. Plasma balls work because the gas has a metal electrode filled with gas kept under an intermediate pressure. First an electric voltage is aplied to the electrode which acts as a conductor used to make contact with a nonmetalic part of a circut.
Plasma has been used also in ways of creating a way to fix roads. Scientists made a machine to turn trash into the black stuff on the highway to fix it. Also students at UCLA are using plasma for themonuclear fusion which "fuses" two light nuclei to form a new heavier Nuclious. Thier 192 laser beams will work with an energy of 1.8 Megajoules and 500 Terawat more than 500 times the U.S. peak generating power on to a millimeter sized DT fuel Capsel in the center of thier 10 meter diameter test chamber.
